(English below)

ISOC Chapters support the technical note of ISOC Brazil against the Fake News draft bill of law
The Internet Society and national chapters of the organization have expressed support for the recent technical notes issued by the Brazilian Chapter (see here and here) questioning the proposals to contain online disinformation under discussion in the Brazilian Congress — specifically, the report of PL 2630/2020, produced by Senator Angelo Coronel. International support demonstrates the serious problems of the current report, which will cause, among other consequences, the excessive collection and retention of user data and the restriction of the use of Internet applications and services only to people with mobile phones, in addition to the risks of fragmentation of the global Internet because the report requires data hosting in the country itself.
